Based on one of the most important novels of Irish literature by Mairtin O Cadhain. Caitriona Phadin dies and takes with her to the grave all the rage and hatred that had consumed her while living. But death has done little to assuage Catriona’s anger and in the graveyard clay of Connemara she reflects on her life’s disappointments. A fiercely funny black comedy, wonderfully acted and beautifully shot. Thanks to Ciarán Ó Cofaigh.

Alive Alive O
Directed by Sé Merry Doyle
Ireland 2001, 52 min.

Named 'Documentary Of The Year 2001' by Ireland's Sunday Tribune. With the collapse of traditional industry, more than 120,000 of the original inhabitants of Dublin have been dispersed to outlying suburbs over the past 30 years. This film looks at those who remain in the markets area of Dublin to create a picture of a city struggling to survive. It is about people who live on the fringes of the legitimate economy, carrying on traditions that have endured in Europe since medieval times. Also featuring poet Paula Meehan and the voice of Frank Harte, singing some of Dublin's best known traditional ballads. Thanks to Loopline Films.
